AMX Dominates
Audio, Video and Signage Control
of Billion Dollar Cowboys Stadium

  • 69 Modero Touch Panels
  • 60 Endeleo Receivers
  • 59 Control Systems Including Digital Signage
  • 58 NetLinx Integrated Controllers
  • 13 Endeleo Multi-Format Distribution Hubs
  • 7 AutoPatch Matrix Switchers
  • 7 Inspired Signage Players

Domination is an understatement when you consider the amount of AMX control, audio and video distribution, matrix switching, digital signage and IPTV technology installed and running in the NFL's newest, most technologically advanced stadium. With over $1.1 billion in the making, Cowboys Stadium holds over 100,000 seats and is not only the new home for the Dallas Cowboys but also home of Superbowl XLV, to be played there in 2011.

Creating the Ultimate Fan Experience
During the design phase of the Cowboys Stadium installation, Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and his family were intent on finding the right technology that could create the “Ultimate Fan Experience” and in particular wanted to ensure that the various Clubs throughout the Stadium offered a luxurious, yet exciting environment.  It was clear to designers that this meant that the control technology and user interfaces needed to be both flexible and easy to use, which is why AMX was selected.

Make It Simple

Music, lighting, displays and audio, all had to be easily adjusted based on the event type (game vs. pre-game, party vs. meeting, as well as day vs. night) and flexible enough to manage content on all displays in each venue. In order to meet this criteria and be user friendly, we devised the same, simple approach for the GUI in all areas, created actual floor plan layouts of each venue to show on the touch panel, provided a variety of presets and made it simple for the Cowboys to easily build their own presets as they needed.

Once the club managers, bar managers, suite attendants, lead bartenders, event leaders, and AV staff were trained on the Modero Touch Panel User Interfaces and the workings of a system, they could then control any system, anywhere in the Stadium, no matter where they were assigned to work.

Control, Signage & Lighting: Integrated & Coordinated
AMX also played a huge role in the effectiveness of the Stadium's Dr Pepper Platform. AV Control, Digital Signage and Lighting Control are all integrated and coordinated to create a dramatic display of content.  Multiple 52" screens are coordinated so images are blended and animation moves together across three screens.  Additionally, AMX works with the Dr. Pepper team to create custom content and lighting to coordinate the message with events (i.e. announcing touchdowns) for maximum impact - on cue and automatically every time.

Special Requirements for Owner's Club

The Owner's Club had special requirements to display local Blu-Ray, Progressive Scan DVD Changer, PC/VGA, and digital signage as well as Satellite TV content from the Head End Control Room at the other side of the facility.

The AMX design used Endeleo technology to take the sources from the Head End Rack to each of two IDF Closet Distribution Points, then AutoPatch and Endeleo to take these sources and 20 channels of IPTV and distribute them to 50 displays via Endeleo UDM-0808 Signature Series Multi-Format Distribution Hubs. This allows the the Owner's Club the ability to switch any local source or stadium TV channel to any display and have the ability to control all displays.
