NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—HARMAN Professional Solutions, the global leader in audio, video, control, and lighting systems, was recently awarded the Joint Interoperability Testing Command (JITC) certification and listing on the U.S. Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Approved Products List (APL) for 19 more HARMAN products. JITC certification is a crucial requirement for technology solutions used in U.S. government facilities. These wallplates are the latest enhancement to the N2600 Series and bring Dante AV-A support to an encoder and decoder wallplate for the first time. The N2600 Series combines affordability and versatility making them ideal for colleges and universities, corporate, casinos, hospitality, government or just about any streaming application.

All N2600 models feature support for a high-quality, extremely low-latency 4K60 4:4:4 MWC codec that is perfect for transmitting both live video and detailed content. They also feature Virtual Network USB 2.0 Hub technology, video preview images viewable from the built-in web interface or from a touch panel, low-power mode for energy savings, and support for the most discerning high-security networks.

N2600D Encoders and Decoders are available in wallplate form-factors in both US and UK/EU styles and include both black and white faceplate inserts and wallplate covers to ensure they blend seamlessly within modern decors. EUMETSAT Delivers Bird’s Eye View of Weather and Climate Conditions from Space With AMX Control Solutions

DARMSTADT, Germany—EUMETSAT recently worked closely with SWiCA Conference Technology and long-term HARMAN distributor Audio Pro Heilbronn Elektroakustik GmbH to upgrade its LEO Mission Control Center with state-of-the-art AMX networked AVoIP solutions.

Headquartered in the German city of Darmstadt, EUMETSAT (European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) is the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and the environment from space. As a user-governed satellite operation organization formed in 1986, EUMETSAT’s primary objective is to be the leading user-driven operational agency in Europe and a trusted global partner for weather and Earth system monitoring from space. The data produced from EUMETSAT's satellites are vital to weather forecasting and make a significant contribution to the monitoring of the environment and climate change.

There are two control rooms—GEO and LEO—located on adjacent floors of EUMETSAT’s Darmstadt headquarters in which staff monitor this incoming data around the clock. Following this successful renovation, SWiCA was awarded the EUMETSAT installation and collaborated with AV supplier Audio Pro Heilbronn Elektroakustik GmbH to completely redesign the LEO Mission Control Center’s control and monitoring systems. SWiCA installed a range of AMX touch panels, controllers & AVoIP end points and AVoIP solutions to maintain consistency and communication in both control rooms. The finished LEO Mission Control Center won the 2022 AVard (German AV Award) for “Best Control Room and Security Integration.”

“Everyone is happy with the newly designed LEO MCC,” Jörg Schmittroth, System Operation Engineer. “Many workplace design ideas that we developed with the GEO MCC have proven themselves in daily practice and have therefore also been implemented in the newly designed LEO MCC. SWiCA deserves a lot of praise for completing the project on time, despite unusually challenging circumstances. When new people come to work with us, they are always very enthusiastic about the environment in which they can work.”

The control center is divided into six oval-shaped work islands that serve as remote command centers dedicated to individual satellite programs. Each work island is equipped with 20 computer screens, four loudspeakers, six gooseneck microphones and two AMX Modero Series touch panels for controlling. SWiCA utilized AMX N1000 Series encoders and decoders to design a custom switching solution that allows operators to control each five different computers with a keyboard-and-mouse set either with a single or dual monitor setup.

The linchpin of the IP-based signal distribution in the LEO Mission Control Center is the SVSI product family from AMX, with which SWiCA has had good experience in various projects since 2012, according to Markus Schürmann. An AMX Netlinx NX3200 serves as the primary controller in the LEO MCC, while two NX1200 are assigned to each oval, which spreads the workload and ensures that an entire oval does not fail in the event of a defect. As the web-based control center of the SVSI system, the AMX video controller N8002 provides a single point of control for the AMX video devices and a web UI for manual switching. The video controller detects and manages all devices connected within the system. The N8002 is operated in hot standby mode with a second device of the same type, providing redundancy for always-on control.

“With regard to the selection of components, it was important to ensure compatibility with the products installed in the GEO MCC," said Markus Schürmann, Owner / Operator, SWiCA Conference Technology. “This simplifies the stocking or ordering of spare parts and ensures that the same high quality is available everywhere. The SVSI system from AMX has already proven itself in the GEO MCC. The ultra-low latency from the N1000 series was key and the resolution is sufficient for all tasks. SVSI allows independent multicasting of audio, video and USB signals, and the management of SVSI is really very sophisticated.”

The AMX solutions installed in the LEO Mission Control Center a part of an impressive infrastructure that will be able to support operation expansions, even as EUMETSAT continues to grow its resources and plans to launch new satellites as early as 2025.

“In both the GEO MCC and now the LEO MCC, we have more options than we currently need—we’re ahead of our time,” said Jörg Schmittroth. "Coordination meetings are already taking place to consider what the control center should look like in a few years. We deliberately designed the LEO MCC in such a way that we can easily arrange future tasks. Thanks to a sophisticated concept, desired signals from the data center can be flexibly assigned, memorized and recalled to the ovals.”

Padova Congress Merges Culture, Innovation and Technology With Help from AMX Professional Solutions

PADUA, Italy—To provide the newly designed Padova Congress building with an innovative and future-proofed AV over IP system, Intermark Sistemi selected and deployed a range of advanced AMX networked solutions.

Opened in 2022, the Padova Congress is a massive conference and exhibition space in the heart of the historic city of Padua. The venue serves as an international crossroads for culture, business and innovation, reflecting Padua’s legacy as the home to some of Europe’s greatest minds like Galileo Galilei and Giotto.

At the heart of the new AV system are the large LED walls placed on the main stages, designed by Stefano De Troia. The Congress’s largest hall—the 1,565-seat Sala Giotto—sports the largest screen in the venue as well as one of Europe’s most advanced multimedia stations for presentations, screenings and events. With such technology housed within a building designed by esteemed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the venue itself reflects art and technology working in harmony to incite collaboration and progress.

With collaboration and innovation as the top priorities, the Padova Congress facility required a state-of-the-art, networked AV system to transmit media and streams over IP throughout the venue’s event halls, multipurpose spaces, press room and restaurant area. To meet these requirements, Intermark Sistemi selected and installed several AMX solutions throughout the venue for fast and reliable AV processing.

For networked processing, AMX N2400 Series encoders and decoders provide both video and audio data management with near-zero latency throughout the facility. With both copper and fiber-optic connections available for high signal quality at any distance, the NMX-ENC-N2412A encoder and NMX-DEC-N2422A decoder support up to 4K60 resolution––ideal for spaces with large-scale, high-definition video. Additionally, both solutions offer KVM functions via USB for remote PC control, achieving an ideal balance between simple controls and advanced functionality.

Running in between the encoders and decoders is the AMX NMX-WP-N2410 Windowing Processor, which allows for simultaneous streaming of up to four high-definition sources onto a single image source. A branch of the Automobile Club of Italy, ACI Informatica specializes in IT-based management and implementation for large-scale, vehicle-related public administrative projects. With an on-site 16,000 square-foot server farm capable of high-bandwidth data management and processing, the company has helmed country-wide projects including the Public Vehicle Register and vehicle tax collection systems.

As part of their mission to apply the latest technology to their work and services, ACI Informatica wished to transform their auditorium into a modern event space powered by the latest AV technology. Sarnsara Learning Center Fosters Collaboration With World-Class AV Systems from HARMAN Professional Solutions

BANGKOK—To provide versatile and intuitive AV technology for a variety of events and scenarios, Mahajak Development recently installed state-of-the-art networked AV systems by HARMAN Professional Solutions at MTLA’s new Sarnsara Learning Center.

Founded in 1951, Muang Thai Life Assurance (MTLA) is a major provider of life insurance with 250 branches across Thailand. In 2020, MTLA constructed Sarnsara Learning Center, a new facility with the aim of creating an ideal learning space and collaborative environment for its associates and clients. Its facilities include a 1,000-seat auditorium, 73 guestrooms and 16 training rooms of various sizes, each accommodating between 20 and 200 people. In 2021, the Inavate APAC Awards honored the facility with the Education Project Award, in recognition of the center’s innovative use of AV technology to promote a positive learning environment.

To ensure that the array of rooms could support a variety of purposes—including seminars, meetings, group discussions, workshops and other activities—MTLA turned to trusted integrator Mahajak Development to equip Sarnsara Learning Center with the latest AV technology and user-friendly audio systems. Mahajak Development selected and installed HARMAN networked audio systems utilizing JBL Professional speakers, Soundcraft mixers and AMX network processors.

To ensure excellent sound quality and clarity for a wide variety of applications, Mahajak equipped the meeting spaces and seminar rooms with JBL Control Series 14C/T, 16C/T and 18C/T ceiling loudspeakers, which blend in seamlessly with the ceiling.

Both the auditorium and the largest seminar room feature prominent motorized LED screens for video content. To ensure reliable operation and support for multiple analog and digital formats, Mahajak installed an AMX NX-2200 Netlinx integrated controller, which provides a scalable platform with backward compatibility and extensive network security features. AMX Modero G5 Series touch panels allow users to access that control via a beautiful, single, streamlined interface.

MILAN, Italy – A Technological Hub in the Heart of Milan.
